Season:  March 27 2010 start/April/May/June

Training:  Teams train every Saturday from 10 to 11:30 starting March 27, 2010   No training on Easter Weekend)

Bocce (Italian lawn Bowling) trains on Saturdays beginning March 27 at The Margaret Schweinhaut Senior Center in Wheaton from 10-11:30 It is important that athletes arrive promptly and ready to train. We welcome new athletes to our bocce program, but because of coaching staff limitations and the amount of individual assessment required for competition eligibility, athletes who wish to train in bocce with the intent of being considered for eligibility for competition at summer games must commit to bocce as their primary sport. Athletes who intend to train for state competition eligibility must commit to attending the required sanctioned events to include the Naval Academy Games in April and The SOMO Spring Games on May 2. Details on other competition opportunities and on training requirements will be provided by Coach Renny at the first practice. Questions...  contact bocce@somdmontgomery.org

SOMO has made an important step in our ability to coordinate resources for practices within and across teams. If you can Volunteer during some or all practices and events, choose Bocce at: http://somdmontgomery.org/volsignup_for_sport.htm

For the Role, choose what you would like to focus on (there is also overlap to roles). Some examples for each of the roles available are:
Head Coach = divisions, trains, and coordinates competitions for the entire SOMO team
Assistant Coach = guides the skill develop and game play for a small group of Athletes via demonstration and suggestions for improvement of skills
Unified Partner = plays alongside an Athlete partner (not available for all sports)
Admin = helps with sign-in/management, informal or formal officiating (recording scores)
Chaperone = drives and/or is in charge of one or more Athletes at practices/events

BE SURE TO REGISTER YOUR INTEREST IN TRAINING FOR THIS SPORT BY USING THE ONLINE ATHLETE REGISTRATION FORM or ONLINE VOLUNTEER REGISTRATION FORM. All athletes/volunteers must register prior to attending practice. The forms will be available a few weeks prior to the sport's season.
