Cross Country Running

Season: September/October
Training: Wed trainings 6-7:30 pm at Lake Needwood may be added after season start.
Sunday trainings 11-12:30 at Lake Needwood (starting Sept 12, 2010 - note that early season dates were cancelled due to hot weather.)

Athletes wishing to participate in the Fall Cross Country Running Team should plan to attend the summer runs whenever possible. Coach SpongeBob will need the assistance of parents and older siblings to help with chaperone and leadership duties in the Summer Run Program. Included in each session will be instruction on stretching and running techniques so all athletes areas prepared for the Fall Cross Country Season and competition in local, regional and state Road Races.
SOMO has made an important step in our ability to coordinate resources for
practices within and across teams. If you can Volunteer during some or all
practices and events, choose Cross Country Running -

For the Role, choose what you would like to focus on (there is also overlap to
roles). Some examples for each of the roles available are:
Head Coach = divisions, trains, and coordinates competitions for the entire SOMO
team
Assistant Coach = guides the skill develop and game
play for a small group of Athletes via demonstration and suggestions for
improvement of skills
Unified Partner = plays alongside an Athlete partner
(not available for all sports)
Admin = helps with sign-in/management, informal or formal officiating (recording
scores)
Chaperone = drives and/or is in charge of one or more Athletes at
practices/events
BE SURE TO REGISTER YOUR INTEREST IN TRAINING FOR THIS SPORT BY USING THE ONLINE ATHLETE REGISTRATION FORM or ONLINE VOLUNTEER REGISTRATION FORM. All athletes/volunteers must register prior to attending practice. The forms will be available a few weeks prior to the sport's season.
