Text Box: on the third Tuesday of the month at the RIO Marriott. Please email or call Pam Yerg if you have an interest in joining this great group of folks and in helping us to make a difference in the lives of our athletes in SOMO!
SOMO is always developing opportunities to give our athletes leadership experiences- on and off of the field of play. We have leadership roles available to our athletes on the Management Team, serving on the MD Athlete’s Congress, working with a coach mentor as an Assistant Text Box: Coach or as an official on a sports team , or participating in a Leadership program that we have developed in partnership with the Gallup Organization that focuses on speech and presentation skill building as well as developing leadership and personal strength characteristics. If you are interested in learning more about the opportunities for leadership development for our athletes or in stepping up to take a development or participation role in these programs, please contact Pam Yerg
Text Box: The SOMO Management Team is made up of a group of very dedicated volunteers who are committed to the growth and development of great SOMO sports and leadership programs for our athletes in Montgomery County.
The Management Team is currently seeking volunteers to serve in several positions: Sports Director , Volunteer Committee, Fund Raising Committee ( to serve on either the Golf Tournament or Inspiration Walk Committees) . We meet once a month during the sport year ( Sept—June)

How can your business or organization become a SOMO Community Partner?

Fall is in the air and that means that the Knights of Columbus are at our favorite grocery stores with Tootsie rolls and asking for your donations! Be generous! The Knights of Columbus support our programs in many ways: The Derwood Council hosts both a Fall Picnic to kick off our Fall season and a Holiday Party. The St. Marys Council 6901 hosts our Halloween Party and a summer picnic.

Every year we apply for, and receive a very generous grant from the proceeds of the Tootsie Roll Campaign that is vital to growing and sustaining especially our winter sports programs. And there are many “special fans” of our athletes  who are “Knights” - there at every turn to support our fund raisers and all of our sports programs and events. So, give a donation and a hug, and enjoy your Tootsie Roll!
