NEW! Cross Country Running Program This Fall Special Olympics Maryland offers a Statewide Competition in Long distance Running and SOMO’s dedicated Track and Field Team is jumping onboard! Our cross country runners have already begun training with the dedicated coaching team of Bob Stack and Joyce Plaxen, but if you wish to join the Training program, there is still time. Training is mid-week at Lake Needwood and a weekend practice will be added for fall training to prepare for the September Competition. Contact Coach Bob Stack at 301-253-1026. |

Juniors Soccer—MSI TOPSoccer SOMO in partnership with MSI offers our Juniors soccer training program. Athletes from age 6 through high school years are invited to train in the TOPSoccer Program. The Registration form is included in this newsletter and must be mailed to Pam Yerg . Please contact Pam Yerg with any questions that you have about the best soccer level for you. We encourage our TOPS athletes who have entered High School to remain in the TOPS program with their team-mates as we grow TOPS into the HS years! |

Fall Volley Ball Coach: Bill Evans If you have previously trained on our VB team and are interested in training to participate in Volleyball tournaments hosted throughout Maryland, please send in the sign-up form with your contact information. At this time we plan a modified Volleyball Program that will train at the Barrie School on selected dates and travel together to compete in SOMD tournaments dates and locations to be determined.. |

Golf Team The SOMO Golf Team begins its season the first week in August and at this time all spaces on the team have been filled. Spaces on the team are very limited and the athlete and family time commitment to the program is great. If you are interested in being considered to train and compete on the SOMO golf team in future season, please contact Pam Yerg at jeyclan@verizon.net to discuss the plan to have your name added to the wait list.

Seniors Soccer Athletes age 15 and older are welcome to join the very successful and close knit SOMO Seniors Soccer family! Our soccer coaches and players train at all levels of play: skills through 7v7! Senior Soccer practice is held on Saturday mornings at a location TBA. We are in the process of determining the final practice location. Our first team practice will be held at the Barrie School on Layhill Road in Silver Spring on Saturday August 26th from 10-11:30 where details of the season will be given out. Team members will be expected to travel to League play and Soccer Qualifiers during the season. |
