Competitive 10 Pin Bowling Coaches: Lee Abigail and Rich Domros Team Manager: Debbie Fickenscher The
Competitive Bowling Team Season began on October 27th. The season is required
to begin prior to other winter sport seasons in order to get in enough
bowling scores to qualify for state competition. The State Ten Pin Bowling
Tournament will be held in early February. Questions about the three bowling
seasons can be directed to Debbie
Fickenscher at debbie.fickenshcer@verizon.net. |

FLOOR HOCKEY Coaches: Tim Powers and Hannah Rich A
combination of ice hockey, soccer and demolition derby ...floor hockey is a
fun and exciting sport! We encourage all of our SOMO athletes to give it a
try. The training schedule for floor hockey has been designed to encourage
our high school basketball players to come to floor hockey and then in
January when basketball season begins-stay for high school ball practice!
Come one, come all and see what a fun sport floor hockey is! Contact either Coach Tim with
questions: floorhockey@somdmontgomery.org. The Floor Hockey season begins
December 2 and continues on Sundays from 12-1:30 at the Barrie School on
Layhill Road in Silver Spring, and runs through the first week in February. |

Seniors Basketball In
the winter sport season, SOMO offers many levels of basketball play and we NEED YOUR HELP TO MAKE ALL OF IT HAPPEN! We
offer a Juniors Round Robin League, a High School 3v3 League and a Seniors
Basketball Program that includes 3
levels of play: Individual Skills training, 3v3 ( half-court) team play, and
5v5 ( full-court) team play. This year we plan to have 3 5v5 teams, and will
form as many 3v3 teams as we have athlete interest in, AND Coach support for! Our Seniors Basketball athletes commit
to training every week on Sundays at the Barrie School beginning in January.
Teams will travel to at least one “away tournament” and will participate in
our own SOMO County Tournament. Dates and details of competitions will be
available as the season begins. Skills and Seniors 3v3 teams
will practice from 3-4:30 and 5v5 teams will train from 4:30-6. When you
sign-up for basketball, please indicate if you have played on a team in the
past to help us assess your team placement.
It is important that athletes make a “primary commitment” to one sport
(Example: basketball or skiing). Your coaches and your team-mates depend on
you to commit to training and competing. In past years, athletes have signed
up for both ski programs and for basketball and have not been able to fulfill
their obligations to both sports. Please check our website and contact
Nancy Lloyd with any questions about Seniors basketball. If you are in high
school you may wish to consider training in the new high school 3v3 league. Again, WE NEED COACHES AND VOLUNTEERS TO MAKE IT ALL
HAPPEN! |
