sure will make us all proud! We have had a record number of athletes in our many soccer programs this season.  Our juniors and high school soccer players will show their stuff at the TOPSoccer Tournament on Nov. 4th at Wootton High School.

Cross Country Running—The SOMO Cross Country Running Team led by Coach SpongeBob competed at the State Fall Fest in the First Annual Fall Fest Road Race . The Cross Country Running program is a great way for our athletes to stay in shape and prepare for other sports seasons, and Coach SpongeBob encourages all athletes to join in!

Golf Team– Our golf team worked very hard on their game! And it showed as 5 SOMO athletes competed in level 2 at the State Games and all of our level 1 athletes had their best scores yet at State Competition! Coaches Chuck, Larry, Ben    and Steve must be getting some inside coaching tips from  Tiger!

Bowl-a-thon– Congratulations to all of the SOMO Bowlers on a fun-filled and successful recreational season and a great Bowl-a-thon! You raised  over $6,000.00 for the bowling programs!

Soccer– As we go to press, our Seniors 7v7 Soccer team traveled to compete in the Fall Fest State games at Mt. St. Marys and I am

Outstanding Volunteer!

SOMO would like to recognize the outstanding volunteers that we are so fortunate to have working with our athletes. TOPSoccer has been lucky to have one such volunteer: Mike Frandsen  “Coach Mike”.

Mike has volunteered in the TOPS program for 2 seasons and jumps right in to organize the skills and games—the kids love him!  Coach Mike says”

I love working with the kids in Top Soccer.  I think they enjoy it just as much if not more than typical kids enjoy playing on a school team, and I definitely enjoy coaching them as much as any coach in any sport or any league enjoys what they do.”

Thank you Coach Mike!        Check out Coach Mike’s website and get to know him:                                    www.coachmike.net

Text Box: SOMO’s new cycling club got its start this late summer and fall season thanks to Coach Renny Springuel ! We will offer a Cycling Club again next summer and fall to those athletes interested in training for fitness, fun and possibly state competition. Any athlete interested in participating in the Cycling Club must have his/her own equipment, ability to transport equipment to riding sites, and a Unified Partner to train with. Details will be in the summer newsletter.
Text Box: The new tennis program was a huge success! We had 35 athletes and 30 volunteers coaching from MCTA (Montgomery County Tennis Association). The MCTA coaches and volunteers were amazing in their dedication to teaching the basic skills of tennis to all levels of athletes: juniors, seniors, intermediate and advanced. Our tennis team had a season culminating competition on Sunday October 28th and all of our tennis athletes “hit for the gold”!
