Ski Programs and pre-season training

Winter Sports Fitness and Skill Training

Bohrer Park, Gaithersburg

(next to Gaithersburg High School)

Saturdays beginning November 17 9:00-10:30 AM

* Parents and Coaches will meet Sat. Nov.10th

Athletes participating in outdoor winter sports are expected to participate in the Pre-Season Fitness and Skill Training Sessions to be held at Bohrer Park, beginning Saturday, November 10. Try to arrive at 9 AM so that we can begin by 9:15!

Sessions will continue through December. If there is snow on the ground, bring your skis or snowshoes!

 

ALPINE (DOWNHILL)SKI , CROSS COUNTRY SKI AND SNOWsHOE PROGRAMS:

 

During January and February the Alpine ( Downhill) skiers will practice on Tuesday evenings at Ski Liberty. Information on dates and events will be provided at the Saturday morning training sessions.

Cross Country Skiers and Snowshoe athletes will continue to practice at Bohrer Park on Saturday mornings through the season. Weekend  ski trips will be discussed at training sessions.

 

To qualify for consideration for State Winter Games competition  athletes must make the Ski Program their “primary sport” and must participate in the Pre-Season Fitness and Skills Training Program. Each  Ski Team Head Coach will outline the competition requirements for team members.

 

 

A PROGRAM FOR NEW ALPINE (DOWNHILL) SKIERS BEGINS

DECEMBER 16TH:

In cooperation with Ski Liberty, SOMO is offering a Learn-to-Ski program on Sunday mornings at Ski Liberty. By enrolling in the Mountain Passport Program at Ski Liberty, athletes can take advantage of a program of 4 Sunday morning session 8:30AM to 12:00 Noon beginning December 16th. Lift ticket and rentals will be provided, plus a one hour appropriate class lesson, followed by a two hour practice ski time coached by our own SOMO ski instructors. They very modest cost will be  shared by the athlete and SOMO. For more information please call Barb Selbst at 240-777-2810 not later than December 1st.

New skiers are welcome to try out ...

by attending Saturday morning  fitness and skill training sessions.

 

All athletes, new and returning MUST sign up through the newsletter sign up form or the website online sign-up and MUST have a current medical on file.
