This is the sixth season of the very successful  training and game play format for our Junior players in Elementary and Middle School: 5v5 Player Development Unified basketball. We have  4 teams in both the Elementary and Middle School Leagues. In past seasons the players from KTS (The Katherine Thomas School) formed the “base” of the roster for two of the four teams. The remaining players that filled out the 4 team rosters were from school all over Montgomery County.  We have grown! And it is our goal to continue to grow to meet the needs of the many young people in our community with special needs who would love the chance to learn basketball skills and to play the game!  To meet that goal, we encourage parents to work with their schools to form “School Teams” in Elementary, Middle School and High School grades to provide more competition opportunities for athletes on “Their School Team!”. This effort will take energy and commitment from parents and their schools. Contact Area Director Pam Yerg for questions and to get started in this direction! jeyclan@verizon.net

HS 5v5 Player Development League: As our athletes age out of the MS program we introduced last year a High School Player Development Unified League at Landon from 2:00-3:30 on Sundays. This option is open to athletes in grade 9 through  age 21 who wish to have more developmental skill and game instruction with Unified Partners from Landon and from the community. Players interested in this High School Player Development League should attend the Dec. 11th &18th sessions at Landon from 2-3:30 for try-outs and an orientation to the program option.

There is also a Volunteer Orientation scheduled at Landon on December 11th from during the 11:30-3:30 time frame . All volunteer coaches and Unified Partners ( Buddies) should plan to attend the time relating to the age group that you plan to volunteer with. Remember to sign up online so that we can contact you!

1) The Elementary and Middle School leagues will train in “Player Development Unified Format” which features skill development and 5v5 Unified game play with Unified Partners of similar age. The Teams will each have a Head Coach and an Assistant Coach and the over-all Juniors Landon League  will be directed by coaches Dean Packard and Stuart  Nibley. The teams  will train and play at our generous “home base” Landon School on Sundays. The primary source for our Unified Partners are the middle school students of Landon, but we also have a very committed and experienced group of Unified Partners who come to us from other areas of our community or who are siblings of our players. Unified Partner spaces are limited and so we strongly urge all interested youth to sign up online ASAP so that we can plan accordingly and be in contact with you!

2) NOTE to KTS School players: Players who attend the Katherine Thomas School should sign up for the age group (Elementary, Middle School or the High School Player Development Unified) Landon League that they are eligible for.  KTS Elementary players are coordinated by Head Coach Wendy Epstein. KTS Middle School players are coordinated by Coach Judy Cromwell. KTS players will have a mid-week practice at KTS. Elementary and MS players will be placed on one of several Landon League Teams (to be determined by Coaches Wendy and Judy).

3)An additional  option for all High School age players (16-21 is the Competition Traditional 5v5 team that trains at Einstein H.S. ( new location this year). The HS League Head Coach is Mike Klamm. Please see sports page information for Traditional HS Teams: the HS 5v5 Traditional Teams will be composed of players from KTS AND from other High Schools, and will train at Einstein HS on Sundays from 1-4:00, and all athletes age 16-21 who wish to train and compete on a traditional 5v5 team that competes in travel qualifiers and state competition should sign up for  the HS Traditional 5v5 League. The first two sessions are try-outs and fitness training and are  Dec. 11 and Dec. 18th at Einstein HS from 1:00-4:00 PM.

RETURNING for its FIFTH year! There will be a JUNIOR LEAGUE EXHIBITION  at Landon on February 26th, 2017  which will feature a round robin of Juniors games in the 5v5 Player Development Unified format featuring Elementary, Middle School and High School League teams.

  • High School and “20-somethings” Unified Basketball Club@ BSAC ( Blessed Sacrament) :
The BSAC High School and “20-somethings” Unified Basketball Club welcomes High School and Young Adults to age 29 SOMO athletes and High School and Young Adult volunteers/Unified Partners to a program of low-key skills development and Unified 5v5 games ( much like a “pick up style basketball game). We have expanded the age group for this program as so many of the athletes playing in this program have “aged out” of high school, but still value and want this program! The High School and “20-Something” Unified Basketball CLUB will be  held in the Blessed Sacrament Church gym. We hope to reach out to the Community and build this program up with many new athletes and Unified Partners from High Schools in the area – so talk to your friends! Sign up and show up!

Saturdays 11:30 to 1:00 starting January 7th, 2017 at Blessed Sacrament Church Gym 3630 Quesada Street, NW
Washington, DC 20015

Every year the Community looks forward to the BSAC (Blessed Sacrament) Unified Basketball Club Exhibition Game and this year’s BSAC Exhibition Game is set for Saturday February 25, 2017.
