SUNDAY – Our Lady of Good Counsel High School from 12-1:30. However, we must have flexibility in order to receive facility use. The following times are confirmed. Any changes will be listed on this site, and communicated to all athletes and volunteers who sign up online

Sunday Main Practice schedule– Our main practice is Sunday, 12 noon- 1:30 pm. See below for dates.

Location: Our Lady of Good Counsel High School 17301 Old Vic Boulevard, Olney, MD 20832
Athletes should arrive 10 minutes before practice to get signed in, but do not enter the stadium until the coaches say to.
**Please be aware and respectful of Good Counsel student-athletes and other programs using the track before and after our session.

Clothing: You must be wearing running shoes or sneakers to be on the track or the field. Athletes should also be wearing athletic clothes (examples: shorts or track pants or sweat pants, t-shirt or sweat shirt. Hat and gloves if it is cold. Uniforms are provided only for regional and state meets.)
Sunday Schedule, 12 noon -1:30 pm:
March 19- Regular practice at Good Counsel
March 26- Regular practice at Good Counsel

April 2- Regular practice at Good Counsel- Team meeting at Noon for athletes and parents, guardians, and counselors.
April 912:00-1:30 pm at Good Counsel. Single-county competition for SOMO athletes.

April 23– Practice noon-1:30 at Bullis School,  Potomac. 10601 Falls Rd, Potomac, MD 20854
April 30- Regular practice at Good Counsel
May 6th (Saturday– note change) is a travel qualifier meet in Howard County, 8:30 am. Details below
May 7th– TBD
May 14th– NO PRACTICE in honor of Mother’s Day
May 21- Spring Games at Landon School, Bethesda. This is an all-day event beginning at 10:00 AM. Athlete sign-in at 9:00 AM. Details will follow.
May 28th– Regular practice at Good Counsel.
June 4- Practice at Potomac Community Center on Falls Road in Potomac followed by Summer Games Pep Rally Picnic. Details to follow.
June 9-11, 2017: SOMD Summer Games
Fridays, 5 pm- 6 pm On Fridays we have an additional training session at Lake Needwood, 15700 Needwood Lake Circle, Rockville, MD 20855.  (some maps say Derwood)
We meet at the parking lot near the boat rentals for warmup, running, drills, and throwing.
Parents may run with us on the public trails. Siblings must remain with a parent at all times.

Friday practice March 24 through June 2.
Changes will be sent if needed.

Single County Qualifier: April 9, 12 noon-1:30.

Athletes arrive by 8:30 am. (3000 meter runners arrive by 8:00)
Opening ceremonies at 9:00, competition begins 9:15 – 9:30.  Lunch provided to athletes and coaches – concession stand will be open for parents and families.
Note- We  will be asking SOMO athletes if they will attend so we can register you.

SOMO Spring Games- Sunday May 21. We host a multi-county meet/qualifier

All SOMO athletes to attend.

Athletes age 7 and older are invited to join the track and field team. Athletes age 3-6 should select the Young Athletes Program (YAP).

We offer juniors (grades 1-5), Intermediate (grades 6-12) and seniors level (age 21 and older) training and competition. You may choose to train with the team for general physical fitness or to train to qualify to be eligible for consideration for selection for competition in summer games. Trainings will be on Sundays 12-1:30, and on Fridays from 5-6:00 PM at Lake Needwood – (at the boathouse parking lot). Athletes must indicate their interest in training for eligibility for state competition in the first two weeks of the season, and make a commitment to training and attendance at a minimum of two sanctioned events – one MUST be the SOMO Spring Games. To qualify for State Games, athletes must attend at least 8 practices and 2 qualifiers (competitions). Details about training and competitions will be presented at the first practice by Team Manager Joyce Plaxen.

Online signup for Athletics (Track and Field) is closed.

All athletes/volunteers must sign up for sport training prior to attending practice. Please sign up online as soon as possible so that we can make plans for coaching needs. 

Athlete and volunteer application’s must be current UP TO THE FINAL date of the State Games for your sport. If you are unsure of a person’s status, click HERE to see list of names and expiration dates.
